Katarina Witt started ice skating when she was five. She was only five when her abilities became apparent and then in Karl-Marx-Stadt she entered a school specifically for kids with sporting talents. They was introduced to Jutta Muller in this school. Witt made her breakthrough year in 1982 after she finished second at the World Championships held in Copenhagen. Since that time the elegance and grace of her skating caught everyone's attention. Her dominance began in this particular sport. Olympic victory Katarina Wit won gold in the women's ice skaters at the Sarajevo Winter Games 1984 after an intensely competitive contest. Four years later she was able to win an even tighter contest. Even though she fell short in the competition for free skating, the gold was awarded for her efforts on the compulsory figures and the short program. Witt became the women's first repeatedly crowned winner of figure skating, following Sonja Henie. Hall of Fame Witt was capable of returning to figure skating after her success as a movie actress. Witt competed at the Lillehammer Winter Games, 1994. Although she didn't get a medal, she enchanted her audience despite placing seventh. Witt got her induction into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, 1995.
